Maya Dabbs is an Australian painter residing and producing work in Sydney, Australia. Primarily concerned with ignoring the traditional serious nature of painting and the art world, Dabbs uses the medium to create intriguing expressive work that encourages the viewer to create their own meaning with what they are presented with. Involving aspects of text, collage and exclusively using acrylic paint, Dabbs draws on her own experiences of life to comment on the absurd and sometimes comical nature of being alive in the twenty-first century.
