Purva Jangra is an Australian multidisciplinary artist living on Dharug land, Sydney NSW. Purvas work spans a variety of media including pencil, ink and paint. Her work explores the vivid intersections between youth culture, pop art and self-expression using visual imagery drawn from contemporary pop culture- fashion, money, celebrities, sports cars and jewelry. These symbols populate her rich inner world, reflecting both personal experience and mirroring the larger societal landscape.
Inspired by the ethos of pop art, Purva embraces the genres capacity to democratise art by deconstructing the barriers between high art and everyday life. Her approach to art redefines what it means to be an artist, prioritising creative freedom and personal expression over commercial success. Purva’s practice celebrates the aesthetic pleasures of contemporary culture, intertwining them into a practice that emphasises visualising passions rather than making statements.
