My practice merges a monochromatic palette with screen printing techniques to explore the tension between familiarity and discomfort through a contemporary macabre lens. My ongoing series bridges the gap between the seen and unseen, examining our interaction with the unattached body and delving into the fragile intersection of identity and discomfort.
Central to my exploration is the mouth—a site of pleasure, pain, and identity, blurring the lines between private and public spheres. My hyperrealist, large-scale screenprints focus on cropped views of the mouth, transforming this familiar space into something unsettling. This close-up perspective invites viewers to confront the vulnerable perversity of their own oral spaces, engaging deeply with their relationship to their bodies.
These works evoke both attraction and disgust, drawing on feminist themes of the contemporary grotesque. They immerse the viewer in a world of bodily invasion and imagined narratives, where the interplay of flesh, identity, and the "other" produces a tension that is both captivating and anxiety-inducing.
