A moth that flew to the light
only to become caught in the woven cobwebs
altered her direction
Like the arms of the trees
Only to cocoon its self
Become again
And again

Bronte O’Shannessy is a multidisciplinary artist who grew up on the south coast of Sydney. Surrounded by beautiful Australian landscapes, Bronte has continually engaged with the practice of art, taking inspiration from the beaches, creeks and reserves where she finds a sense of natural curiosity and belonging. To immerse the body or mind into the surroundings allows for her practice to develop further her understanding of the experience life conjures. Bronte’s work creates metaphysical links between the natural world and consciousness.
With a focus on objects, poetry and intimate, sensory experiences, Bronte’s work invites viewers to engage with the natural world's beauty and complexity, encouraging a deeper understanding of what it means to belong to this earth. Using materials that have been gifted to her, found or hold a sense of tactility, her creations—ranging from abstract paintings to woven sculptures—serve as a celebration of ecological interconnectedness.
