@sarah.r.serfati
Sarah R. Serfati (b. 2004) is an Eora based emerging artist and curator whose practice intersects the polarity of digital systems and spatial structures. Serfati negotiates the uncritical relationships we form with both public and online infrastructure by working primarily across sculptural forms, video, light, sound, and 3D printing practices. In combining both geometric and digital formats, Serfati produces multidisciplinary installations that are modular and site-specific. These installations mediate the tension of the activated body enveloped by space, sound, and speed; and the pacified body, arrested by screens, light, and image.
Serfati’s artistic methodology extends into her curatorial practice and sensitivity to spatial relationships, adjusting installation conventions in pursuit of atmospheric unity between gallery architecture and artworks. Her curated exhibitions include In Honey at the Library Stairwell Gallery (National Art School), SEQUENCE at Backspace Gallery, and most recently, Blue Hour (Co-curated with Theo Lathouras).
Serfati was granted the Youth Artist in Residency by Youth Action NSW in 2020, and also received the Undergraduate Artists’ Book Award by the National Art School in 2023. Her work has been acquired by Stan for Exposure Season I, and is held in multiple private collections on Gadigal and Dharawal land.
