I designed Evulva as a bold reimagining of a symbol that is often hidden or objectified: the vulva. By amplifying its scale and prominence, I seek to create a platform for confronting societal discomfort, fostering identity, and encouraging healing. The sculpture has both abstract and anatomically correct elements, with an arch inspired by gothic architecture, serving as a critique of both the phallic dominance in modern structures and the historical use and abuse of the female form in Christian contexts. Evulva stands as a powerful emblem of empowerment, reclaiming the vulva as a source of strength. My hope is that this work provokes meaningful discussions around gender equality, women’s health, education, while encouraging individuals to embrace and celebrate their own bodies. Designed as an approachable and interactive protest piece, Evulva draws inspiration from Australia’s “big things,” merging kitschy art with serious activism. Its portability and ease of installation reinforce its role as a dynamic tool for protest and engagement.
