Kaela Jacobs is an emerging artist whose practice explores the expanded field of painting, focusing on textiles, sculpture and found object. Her work aims to investigate the nature of fragility through using materials that encompass both degradation and endurance.

This is highlighted through the naturally occurring decay, as well as intentional destruction evident in the mediums she finds and uses to construct her work. The materials she chooses to work with have an inherent delicateness to them that suggests their durability. This vulnerability of the materials in conjunction with the element of decay highlights a sensitivity that the mediums have to their surroundings.
