Erin Oataway (b.1999) is an abstract figurative painter working and residing in Eora/Sydney. Raised alongside the Royal National Park, she cultivated an early love for the colours and textures of the natural world. Into adulthood, Oataway pursues hiking in vast, isolated landscapes that provoke a poetry of thought she carries back to unpack within her studio. Collaging external sensations from the natural world against figures that stretch, tumble and compress against their contexts, Oataway examines the binary between external and internal landscapes.
