Gabriella Boyd

Gabriella Boyd

@gb.gabriella
Gabriella Boyd is an artist from Dharug and Gundungurra Country (Blue Mountains), currently based on Gadigal Land (Sydney). Drawing from her background in architecture, she is interested in the relationships between people and their environment, how spaces affect us, and our environmental impact. Working across mediums of video, projection and ceramics, her practice connects craft and digital technological processes.
This will make it less likely to fade, is inspired by the handwritten book of craft recipes and instructions created by her late maternal grandmother, Mardi, whom she never met. Honouring her matrilineal line, Gabriella collaborated with her mother, Liz, to explore the book’s relationship to the past, place, and memory. Gabriella’s installation gives new life to Mardi’s glaze and natural dye recipes, and to Liz’s print-making, in a body of work that celebrates multi-generational collaboration across time and place.

The National Art School acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the traditional owners on whose lands, water and skies we meet and share. We pay our respects to all Gadigal elders, past and present, and celebrate the diversity, history and creativity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
