Lynn Godfree

Lynn Godfree has spent a very long time observing the crash and burn of cultures and communities because of the thrall of money. Wealthy societies have become homogenised and sick, and what does it forbode if we do not value ideas, expression and experimentation? Godfree believes that artists can turn the tide of conservative thrust with creative thinking, visions of loveliness and inclusion, skills and persistence; and yet artists are trampled by the gold rush economy.

Godfree's practice uses the medium of print and its powers of dissemination to dialogue and do, favouring disruption and quirk to manipulate messages. Her current project attempts a wealth transfer scheme within The National Art School, to support emerging artists. `Heist Laundry Service' dares to embed with commodity culture to offer bespoke designed and printed `notes' in exchange for Gov. approved currency (the stuff that can pay the rent). It is a simple plan to raise cash and awareness. Change requires a critical mass of alternate thinking and `Heist laundry Service' wants to support the change makers.
