Debra Achurch

@achurchdebbie

Debra Achurch lives and works on Wallumedegal Country in Sydney. Her practice spans printmaking, painting, mixed media and textiles. Her current printmaking practice depicts suburban landscapes in an abstract way as she investigates the impacts of ongoing urban development. Themes of memory, loss, disruption and displacement are explored. Debra’s recent work involves screen-printing on a variety of surfaces including timber, perspex, canvas and paper. She has also produced digital images etched on perspex. The layering of shapes, lines and colour reflects the continual changes to our urban environments. As dwellings are demolished and rebuilt the trace of previous inhabitants disappears.

Debra also holds a M. Art Education (COFA, UNSW), M. Special Education (Macquarie University) and B. Education (University of Sydney).
