Lindy Yoannidis
@lindyyo
Lindy Yoannidis born1960, is a sculptor/multidisciplinary artist residing in Eora/ Sydney. Her works hold a spiritual sensibility, playfully exploring the threads of nature that govern life. Lindy’s practice draws on nature’s artistic fingerprint embedded in the landscape of coastal forms and desert regions. Her passion for nature is expressed in her use of organic materials, including clay, wood, leaves, bark and spices capturing a sentient experience of her surroundings. With attention to detail, she expresses repetitive elements creating patterning, rhythm and tone. Focusing on the transition zones where the ocean meets the land, and the bush and desert regions, her work is large and immersive, capturing the abstract simplicity of the wild. Inspiration is drawn from aerial views while flying low over the Australian landscape, coastal walks, underwater exploration and cultural exposure.
Lindy completed the Diploma in Fine Arts and Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts at Tafe in 2012 and 2021, on the back of a career in Overseas Aid and Social work, commencing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at National Art School in 2022. She has exhibited in over ten exhibitions in Sydney and won the 2019 Sculpture class award at the Waverley Woollahra Art School.
