Sarah Wadey has a research-driven practice stemming from an interest in self-concept and perception. Deeply intrigued by quantum physics and the borders of what can and cannot be known or understood, Wadey brings in elements of performance as spectacle to entangle the human form with objects she describes as having an agency of their own. Her predominantly installation-based practice poses happenings as statements true in of themselves, rejecting narrative and validating the Other as contradictions grow out of her process. Her works often grow out of the sculptural manipulation of discarded household detritus and her own production waste as an extension of the self, as she finds solace in her practice as an excavation site for the deconstruction and reconstruction of inner world quandaries made physical.
